Jeff Schwartz owns and operates Schwartz Performance in Woodstock, Illinois. His is the company that makes and sells custom built modern chassis / full frames for classic cars with suspension and brake set ups that are far superior to what was once available (oem) when many classics rolled off the assembly lines. The chassis he builds are most impressive to say the least and are told to make driving a classic with his frames or upgrades like driving a new car.

So, when a highly successful specialty car builder, chassis manufacturer, and ex-road racer decides to develop a restomod for himself, you may assume that the resulting creation will showcase every part his company offers. But that’s not how Jeff Schwartz of Schwartz Performance in Woodstock, Illinois, approached this project.

I have dreamed in younger days of taking and refurbishing one of the AMC 1970 "one year only" Machines. The Machines were for the most part , painted in the factory 1776 -1976 Bi-Centenial AMC Red/White/Blue paint scheme. I have seen them done in other colors.
One could order from the factory , by mid year 1970 a few other colors besides the RWB. The best looking ones I have layed eyes on is those a couple of AMC enthusiasts have restored with the solid gold body with black paint or black vinyl tops. (I do not care much for vinyl or convertible tops)
To me , the black and gold combo just makes almost any car "pop!" It is funny how lots of folks at times can confuse AMC cars with old MOPARs. Especially since eventually the Chrysler Motors Corporation went on to take over AMC and manage the final years and the very end to the once known + popular Hudson / Rambler / AMC motor car companies.

BF had a '69 AMX 390 3 pedal car. Headers, edelbrock manifold and a mild cam it ran in the 13's. Splined rear axle flanges became its weakness with a slightly bigger tire. Dana rear end solved that, later years they made one-piece axles for the rambler rear end.
That Rambler beat up a lot of the other muscle cars of the day, IE 396 Novas where no match for it.
If memory serves me right the trunnion front end was a weak point with them.
Fully reclining front buckets made him a ''hero'' at Lovers Lane ;)
