Old threads getting locked?

Bringing back a thread from 2008 when 90% of the people posting in it are no longer here

Having a conversation with inactive members makes no sense.

No longer here or inactive is irrelevant. When a post/comment is added to a thread, even one that's 10+ years old, it moves up in the listing of topics or appears in the sidebar. At that point, anyone can comment. It's not restricted to those that already posted in that thread. Most people probably don't see the (created) date, only the 'last updated' date.

Okay then, Each dormant topic is reviewed and decisions made by staff.

Rarely they may stay open. Most often closed as again talking to ghosts makes no sense.

They died once, usually for a reason.
