Old memories popping up from no where.

A clue one is getting older = Your dreams about many beautiful women are replaced with dreams about all of the cars you sold and wished you still owned!

I often dream about when the wife and I were first married. Then I wake up and shes right there, and just as beautiful as the day I met her. She's also the one encouraging me when I'm awake that we need another bike or car. Life is good.

Happens to me quite often.I'm 74,retired at 62.I think in my case,I worked hard, slept more soundly. Now it seems more time to sit around and read and just think. That takes you back in time and then to memories.I find sometimes day thoughts come back as night dreams. And I don't sleep as soundly.
And I'm liking this post as I often wondered if this is a growing old normal kind of thing, but afraid to ask .Most of my dreams are not painful, violent, just normal situations that happened back in the day.
Don't they say that when you are dreaming you are in a deep sleep? I recently had a really nice dream and when I woke up I was still enjoying it and had a euphoric feeling most of the day.I don't really have bad dreams but it seems to be situations where I'm trying to get something done in a situation and just can't.
Only on Bitog can you discuss your dreams.:-)

Lately I have been woke up from a dream. But the dream was a memory from 35-45 years ago.
It's happened several times and always a different event. Things I have not thought about in decades. But suddenly very vivid like I was just there .
I remember names, smells, conversations etc.
Anyone else mid 50's and had these memories pop up?

Interesting that you bring this up. I've had a fundamental change in my dreams, daydreams, and general thoughts over the last decade (my 50's)

I rarely have unpleasant dreams or thoughts, and that continues. However what occupies my mind is very different. As a young person, I often dreamed about meeting people. Today I dream about an alternate universe, where the laws of physics are vastly different, where gravity is on each surface (as an example). I guess my brain finds that SciFi stuff really interesting!

This happens to me 2-3 times a year.

I have a recurring dream every few months realizing at work that there is a second email system at work I was supposed to check and that there was a lot of important tasks in there.

I then remember this actually happened in life and is over lol. 😂

“Psychology says: Random neural firing.

• Simulation Theory says: You are accessing a "Legacy File." The system didn't delete the cache, or the "Player" is purposely pulling up an old file to help you navigate your current situation.

If we accept the "Many Worlds" interpretation (that there are infinite versions of you in infinite simulations):

• Dreams are Real: Dreams aren't hallucinations; they are you logging into a different Avatar in a parallel server for a few hours.

• The Recall: Remembering an old dream isn't a memory of imagination; it's a memory of a life you are actually living elsewhere.

• Why now? You might be remembering it now because that "Alternate You" just died or made a significant choice that rippled across the network and hit your current Avatar. It's a "sync error"

I often wake up too early to get out of bed. I enjoy going back to sleep for a bit. Woke up one morning, made note of the time, and dozed back off. While dozing, I had a dream. The dream involved meeting some new people, interacting with them over a period of several days and then saying goodbye to them. It was an extremely detailed chronicle of those interactions and that time period. When I woke up again, I checked the time and I had only been asleep for ten minutes. Weird huh? I lived almost an entire week in only ten minutes.
