Old Ford VIN plate

My MIL found this while doing some landscaping in her yard. Anyone know a way to tell what it's from? Just thought it would be interesting to know.

1st guess... more of a body plate than a VIN plate.

Subsections could be paint codes.

Could be. I was actually thinking it might be from a tractor or something. The area she lives had a lot of vegetable and sod farms before being developed.

If my memory of Ford date codes serves, the first one "D7" means 1977.

Thats a part number. 5e212 is a catalytic converter. So its from the cotcon of some '77ish vehicle
