I think some of you will get this:

The Old Couple Whole House AC Installation:

1) Devide the house in the middle so each half has air sealed off from the other.

2) Install the AC in the middle of the house with condenser in his half, and evaporator in her half.

3) Locate thermostat in her half and set it to 55 F.

Now both can be happy.

We have the opposite problem.

I want the house 68-70 in the winte rand maybe 75 in the summer. What we end up with is 60 in the winter and 70 in the summer ... resulting in me shivering all the time!

Anything below 73-74* and my wife is freezing her patooties off. I'd prefer it 71-72* because I'm the one moving around, doing things but noooooooooo

During the summer, my 59 y.o. wife wants the house around 60 degrees. Our A/C is not quite capable of that but it runs 24/7 and with ceiling fans whirling at full tilt it freezes me out. We both cover up with blankets to just sit and watch TV. Its ridiculous. Now, in our "winter" when its 50 degrees outside, she wants 80-85 degrees inside our house because "we are going to freeze to death" if the heater does not run full blast 24/7.

I just grit and bear it. Because that what I have to do. I know you all understand.

sounds similar to my grandfather, who wore Long johns, and sweatshirts/flannels year round.

That winter part sounds like your wife would feel warmer if humidity was increased in the winter. There's a limit of how high you can make it because if you go too high you'll get condensation on outside walls and windows. But increasing it some adds comfort.

Our humidity is off the charts, so we combat it every chance we get. Houston humidity is 80-90%, and we live east of Houston between Galveston bay and lots of bayous and marsh, so ours is usually even higher. Thanks though.
