I'm on my 3rd Jeep in 30 years (2005 WK Grand Cherokee) and the mileage is 90k on the 4.7l Engine. Vehicle is new to me.

With summer coming up and OCI due around July, will it handle a mix 50/50 mix of 5w30 and 10w30 OK?

Temps where I live are 75-105 degrees in late summer.

(Previous engines on my other Jeeps were 4.0 (1991 Cherokee) and 2.4 GEMA on a 2008 Compass.)

BTW: I also have 4 new bottles of PYB in 10w40 that have been sitting on the shelf for 4 years.

Any harm in adding those to a 50/50 mix with the 5w30? Never tried it before.

That'll be fine too. No issue at all, especially in your warmer weather.

The initial recommendation for 10w30 on the 4.7 was due to excessive shear with 5w30s when the engine was introduced. What it tells you is the manufacturer is concerned about too thin of oil in that engine.

Your 50/50 mix would be great actually.
