5,000 mile service coming up this weekend and I've only got 4 qts of Havoline 5w-20 but I need 4.5 qts for a complete service. I have half a quart of Mobil Drive Clean Plus High Mileage Syn Blend in 10w-30 (GF3/SL rated) and was wondering if I could use that as the final half quart. Normally I would just get some more 5w-20 Havoline but since I've got a stash of M1 0w-20 waiting in the wings, I really don't feel like having the extra motor oil sitting around.

Anyone see any problems mixing a half qt. of this Mobil DC+ HM 10w-30 in a 5,000 mile 4-banger that calls for 5w-20?

I doubt if the mix will hurt anything. And Mobil is usuaully pretty vocal on how their oils are compatible with any other PCMO.

Congratulations on the move to M1 0w20, your Ford built Mazda will probably do very well on it. It'd be my choice for the Ford modular design concept engines.

Go for it. The final mix will still be a 20 wt. and if it isn't so what And yes going to 0W-20 Mobil 1 is a good move.

Boy..I never thought I would say that.

Thx 427. Like you say, I'm pretty sure the DC+ HM should be compatible with the Hav dino but what I'm not sure about is whether the additives used to make it a "high mileage" oil have any possible negative effects on brand new motors?

. I'm sort of looking forward to the switch especially for track day events. I'll confess I was a bit worried about having the Havoline 5w-20 dino in during my last track day.

EDIT:

Just saw Al's response when I submitted mine. LOL @ Al. The 20w thing does take some getting used to. I remember using 20w-50 GTX in my 69
Mach1. Thanks for the response.

Mikep,
I have exactly 1/2 quart of Havoline 5W-30 that I have no use for. You are more than welcome to have it. That way at least you'll be keeping the oil in the same "family". In fact you can swing by on your way home then maybe we can have a few Oatmeal Stouts @ Krogh's

How in the world could I pass that up? Free motor oil AND a chance to down a mug or two of my favorite locally brewed beer with a fellow auto enthusiast and good pal.

. Are you sure you're up for it given your advanced age?
