Oil viscosity math

We need to know what 10w40 you are using specifically to give you the right answer...

ST 10w-40 has viscosity of 15.33 cSt at 100C, does it not?
MMO: 2.3 cSt

So the mix would have a viscosity of 9.06 cSt - a heavy 20 grade.

As QP said it will give you a heavy 20 grade initially but will likely thicken quickly to a 30 grade due to the high volatility of MMO.

Also due to the additive dilution you'd be better off blending in some real oil such as a 0W/5W-20 and still have a half decent motor oil.
