He said 30,000 miles. For some people thats 10 years use out of a truck. It would be 5 for me. If the difference in price would gain him an extra year he would likely use it.
If it were mine I would get the pressure checked with a real gauge (To confirm a problem) then try what ever 15W40 HDEO was on sale locally. If that gets idle pressure up to 10 psi or better I would be happy.
