I have a 2003 Subaru WRX with an engine swap (EJ207 used in Japanese STi). I accelerate hard with it and it sees a lot of daily abuse. I need recommendations for an oil that can keep up with my demand. I'm currently using Mobil1 0W-40 and it's been good so far. Is this a good oil for my application?

Also, I'm thinking that when summer hits I can move to the M1 5W-40 (which is a lot easier to get a hold of locally). Is this a good idea?

I'll second this. Excellent choices. Simple as that!

Enjoy your WRX, they are sweeeeet!!

Will the 5W-40 be sufficient for NJ winters? I would love to be able to stock just one...

NJ winters are pretty mild, so a 5w anything will work out just fine. If you park in a garage overnight you could even get away with using a 10w oil.

The Subaru WRC use Motul 300V 5W40 so 5W40 should be a good choice.

An alternative to M1 would be Silkolene but probably not easily available.

Where can I buy the Motul 300v? Is it any better than M1 or is it just matter of preference really?
