I am sure this is not the best idea. Has anyone ever tried using a good 30 wt. oil for piston slap or knock? If so how did it go? Dino, blend, or synthetic.
I have piston slap in my 00 Chevy Malibu LS with Amsoil 0W-30 oil. Car has 42k now and doesn't use a drop of oil.
From what I have heard piston slap is more of an annoyance than harmful.
It goes away after a minute or so.
At least that's my definition of piston slap. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
There has been discussion about this before, Try doing a search on the words "piston slap."
I've found Red Line Oil (even their 5W30) works well in dulling this terribly annoying noise.
