Oil for 2.0 Skyactiv - Battle of the 0w-20

exactly, and I have the OEM, durable stuff, which is roughly 30-35$ a gallon CAD. I never needed to add any in 220 000 km since the car in brand new, mostly highway driving, winter and summer. I use OEM Mazda stuff though always.
OEM coolant is the way to go, that’s what I went with in my Civic and that’s what my Corvette will be getting next week

The politically correct statement to say on here is that the extra noise means nothing and that the oil protects just the same so there's no issue and that you hearing more noise might be a figment of your imagination 😵‍💫

But personally I don't like the extra noise some oils produce which in my experience has also been mobil but there's also no proof which shows it being an issue so I wouldn't worry about it. Can't really go wrong with any of them.
This.
OP, I’d run the quietest of the oils you posted, and on an aside I’d run whatever grade of gasoline is quieter in your engine too.
Off topic: I run VRP 5w-30 in my Mazda L since it’s right on the edge of a 5w-20 oil.

If your going to run a 20w I'd try Mobil esp 0w20. If it were me I'd run Mobil esp 0w30, I'm currently running it in two Toyotas that call for lower viscosity oil and I haven't noticed any reduction in gas mileage and engines seem to run quieter to me.

It just doesn’t matter, 0w-20/30. But trans, brakes, clutch, coolant changes every 30/40k is as important. The engine is not your worry.

Well, this just happened about two weeks ago. I plan to stay with Valvoline Advanced moving forward on all of my vehicles.
Plus VA is one of the few full synthetic shelf oils offfered in 10w30 still. I like the idea of a thicker base oil for my area. Not for Canada though.

I also agree that is overkill for coolant changes. I just did the first coolant change on my 2016 Civic a month ago, at 266,000 km. I am getting the coolant in my 2018 Corvette changed for the first time next week, it has 107,000 km on it. Modern coolant lasts way longer than the stuff from 30+ years ago.
I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but since this is an "oil" forum and not a "coolant" forum, I will. On my '08 CR-V in my signature, I have never changed the coolant. Since I got the car in 2011 with 50,000 miles on the odometer, it has gone 14 years and 275,000 miles. Whether it was ever changed before me, I don't know. I check the level once a week or every other week when checking oil but that's it. I have never even had to add coolant. I like the car a lot but if it dies tomorrow, I'm not going to shed a tear which probably is a major contributor to my apathy. What really worries me though when wrenching on an old car is a drain plug breaking off or a hose connection cracking and then having to replace a radiator. I'm at the stage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This^^^^^^^^. More quiet is more better. .02

Indeed. Daughter came back with quick lube 0w-20 in the Mitsubishi outlander sport and I could hear it buzz up the driveway. Immediately dumped it out and used the last of my quaker state 5w-40 and now I've failed to hear the car buzz up the driveway every time since and only hear the door open. Much better. They also tightened the check out of the bolt, filter, and even the oil cap and had to use an adjustable wrench to get it off which is a first. Hate quick lube places.

Did you ever test the coolant with one of those cheap over the counter testers? Curious to what temp the coolant is still good for?

I typically don't touch the coolant for 75-100K in a new car anymore. Ater that, just do a drain and fill every 30K.

I subscribe to the theory of ignorance is bliss! I'll check it though and provide results.

Well, I have been a longtime exclusive Mobil 1 user, well about 30 years. It’s never done me wrong and I haven’t had any issues with any of the motors I’ve used it in. That being said, I change the oil everytime I purchase a car, usually once a year or more, and I have noticed that quite a few get a lot more “clattery” after the change. Just recently I purchased a Hemi Durango that you couldn’t tell was running when I bought it. Drove it 5 hours home, pulled it in the driveway to show the wife and she asked why I shut it off, she wanted me to rev it. It was still running. I then did my oil change to Mobil 1 and you would have swore I engine swapped a small diesel. We drove about 3000 miles like that and it was getting to me. I messaged the person I got it from and asked him what he was using and was told “Valvoline full synthetic”. I picked up some Valvoline Advanced and changed it immediately. I’m happy to report the clatter went away completely. I was just at the gas station and had to put my ear to the front grill to hear that it was still running. Very impressed with Valvoline currently and plan to switch all my vehicles on the next change.
MS-6395 is why. Chrysler's oil spec, and they mean it.
