Oil flter pore size

Automotive passenger car oil filter pore size, I believed that the filter would clean particles 20 micron and greater, however a friend f mine is reporting that filter pore size is being reduced to around 10 microns!

Is this true, is finer filtration better filtration?

Pores don't necessarily matter within reason. Too small of pores causes higher pressure drop through the media. It's the "cake" that does the filtration.

Better if the flow rate is the same. Chances are flow rate is impeded the smaller the micron rating,unless there is more media surface area to make up for it.
