If my Delco filter looks beat up like that, it will be the last one....

Did the filter get twisted on the way out?

Wouldn't it be within the realm of possibility for saturated filter media to deform a bit? Personally, I would not worry about it...

Just to poke the bear... My SuperTech filters have never done that

I have an L30001 on right now.. Changing oil soon. I'll cut it open and take a look.

I Did cut open a PureOne and If I didn't hit the pleats with the hacksaw I am sure the filter media would have been perfectly straight ect..

The media pleats look like that on a lot of filters after they have been used for awhile. That photo is new (left side) vs. used (right side).

Nope, came out real easy.

I don't see any problem, the deformation is not bad. I seen worse on my last (2005) CTS with same engine. Its also possible that is deforms like that from being clamped down by the screw on lid.

Filters can really vary depending upon the application even within the same mfg. It really is a case by case basis. This applies to country of origin as well. This is just another reason why I don't buy filters online sight unseen.

What numbers do you see. I doubt that they moved the ONE LINE down to Mexico or recreated it somewhere else to make the same numbers.

Everyone I've had HAS been made in the USA.

I just pulled a Purlator L15436 out of my Ecotec. It says right on it''Made in the USA''. Going back with a Hengst made in the USA that came in a PF 457 box. Earlier all the cartridges I saw were foreign made.
