I have a 2000 Silverado and a few months ago took it to Jiffy Lube and they over-tightened the drain plug to my oil and now I have a drip from the plug. I have tried an aftermarket gasket but still seems to drip. Has anyone tried like a silicone tape on the threads to help with a leak? Will it be affected by the heat? I hope the threads are not stripped. Any help appreciated.

They probably did some damage to the threads. If it's on the plug, make them buy you a new plug. If it's on the pan, make them buy you a new pan.
Take it back and RAISE HELLL! If they don't budge, file with the BBB etc. until you get a new oil pan IF the threads are actually stripped.
I would use try some thread lock/sealant and install a Fram Suredrain. That way it's sealed and your oil changes are faster/easier.
After installing the oil drain plug try coating it with silicon sealer. It worked for me.
Or try the Fumoto drain valve for a permanent fix. It will also make DIY oil change a lot easier.

If you've already messed round with it, ie removed the drain plug and reinstalled it, you'd know if the threads were stripped. Sounds like the threads are fine. It's not the threads, it's the washer. See if you can find one of those super heavy duty nylon washers; they are totally leak proof and last forever. Could it possibly also be a rear main seal leak? If the rear main is leaking, it'll drip down right at the drain plug and make it look like oil is coming out past the drain plug (ask me how I know!).
It was last winter and the weather was bad so I took it in and am now paying the price for it. Lesson learned...you're right drew...I have changed drian plugs and it didn't help much, then added a rubber gasket and that has not stopped it even after re-tightening. Maybe it is the rear main seal. Can you feel/find the leak from above the engine? I was wondering if I can run my hand around the back of the engine between the firewall and see if it is wet back there? Is that where the rear main seal is located? Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Crawl under there and look up where the bell housing meets up to the engine. If it leaking, you'll see oil dripping down out of the bell housing and onto the oil pan/back bottom of the engine block. If it's really really bad like my pops truck, oil will be EVERYWHERE back there!
Sounds like it isn't the plug. It really doesn't take a whole lot to seal the plug. You have to work at it to make it leak. Carefully clean all around the pan and check after even a short run. I doubt its the plug. You can get a plug with an O-Ring in at Napa
