Oil Cooler to solve oxidisation problem?

The above two uoa results from CAT with pennzoil longlife and now mobil delvac keep suggesting an overheat situation.

Vehicle is 4.2 TD Toyota landcruiser, no intercooler.

The engine runs cool according to the gauge on the dash - barely above the blue cold mark.

Consistently - the results are oxidised oil - even with the best synthetic and a lower distance travelled (4000 miles).

Wear levels are higher in Fe & Al slightly on the delvacthan the pennzoil.

Would an after market oil cooler perhaps benefit this engine? Maybe the heat of a non intercooled turbo is whats oxidising the oil?

I'm thinking an oil cooler might be cheaper initially than a intercooler?

The only modification to this engine is an LPG injection system that runs in paralell with the diesel.

Could the LPG be the cause of higher oxidation levels?
(I read something once about LPG powered forklifts needing oil with a higher sulphated ash content to prevent valve seat regression).

Does LPG cause higher oil oxidation levels?

Just trying to figure a fix for this oil issue - on an engine that otherwise never misses a beat.

I've been interested in the gas injection systems for diesels.

Diesels run around 10% lean at WOT, something that the aftermarket are exploiting with the LPG systems (there's more air, so you can burn a bit more fuel in the form of a lean LPG mix).

I'm guessing that the ring belt temperatures are getting up there, or maybe there's a bit of detonation...or something.

Maybe exhaust gas temps (pyrometer) could tell you something
 
Thanks Shannow - a Pyrometer has been something that has been on the agenda for a while now. It's my sons vehicle and these days we now live on an island - so the vehicle spends more time parked back on the mainland than on the road. We will have to try to get back to town for a few days and install a pyrometer gauge to get a handle on exhaust temps.

Intercooling is about $3K fitted (and I don't know if the LPG injection system will interfere with installation of the intercooler) or of course the oil cooler, might be a cheaper easier solution maybe.

Seems crazy to have a oil oxidation problem, the vehicle was carrying no load, just travelling daily to work and back thru winter for those figures. It shows zero sign of any overheating at all.

You could also try opening up your exhaust (aftermarket, bigger, minimize restrictions) and also try the same with your intake. These are aftermarket performance options for diesel trucks in North America, but they always produce lower egt's.
 
I know that the fuel guage is not the greatest, at least on the surfs. The Australian surf site posted a cheap water temp mod that may work for your cluster to actually get some real readings on the guage. ALso, the bigger exhaust, and a IC should help out too. There are alot of "non-typical" IC installs going on down there, like rx7 IC on top of the engine and bigger ones to the side, with hood scoops. If you can find a place to get the oil tapped into, it might be something to consider with the oil cooler though.
