This is my first post and I was looking for some opinions.I have an 07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited which is supposed to use 5w20.I so far have used Castrol Edge 5w30,Pennzoil Ultra 5w20,and a very brief stint with RP 5w20(RP was drained after 1 week b/c of new water pump being installed, dealer balked at replacing with RP.Getting close to oil change(6k intervals by the way)was looking for input and opinions for next oil.Been thinking of using Motorcraft or Pennzoil Platinum. Anyone with a JK or other Dodge/Chrysler with the 3.8 have good luck with any of these? Or does anyone have an opinion from outside Jeep land?I was also thinking of Castrol GTX or GTX Synblend.I know this topic stirs up a hornets nest just looking for some input. After going on a quest for finding the best oil to put in the Jeep after buying in the spring I kind of scrambled my brain reading about all these "best oils" out there. Thanks

Any properly spec major brand oil in what the manufacturer calls for is the best way to go. IMO for conventional oil I like Pennzoil Conventional or Valvoline as for a synthetic cant go wrong PP or M1.

There is no one "best oil". IMO your owners manual gives you the best options for the engine they designed. Any brand that meets the API and ILSAC requirements as well as the viscosity that is speced will do the job. If you want to step up from a conventional oil to a synthetic,(in name only) then you may want to extend the drain interval after your warranty expires. WELCOME TO BITOG-- You now have something to do on the cold winter nights in NC. There is a lot of GREAT information here. FWIW--Oldtommy
