OEM foglight help

I have an '03 silverado and I just bought new OEM replacement foglights. But, unlike the original OEM fog lights that are on my truck now, the new ones did not come with the little metal light deflector that is inside the sealed lens housing that the bulb sits behind. Do I need this little deflector or is it not really necessary?

Aim them properly and don't worry about it.

If the bulb doesn't have a black coating on the tip, yes.
The sheild prevents uncontrolled glare from the plain bulbs blinding other drivers.
