Just recently got a Champion Power Equipment 2000W inverter generator. I filled it with the factory oil and the manual called out for an oil change at 5 hours but I loaned it to a friend who had a power outage for a few days. I think he ran it a total of 10 hours on the original oil. I don't think it hurt anything but the oil came out really greyish.
Anyway, I filled it with QS Defy 5W30 and I'm wondering when I should change it again. The manual calls out every 50 hours or "sooner if running under heavy loads" but it doesn't specifiy. Wondering if I should change it out again around 10 hours because of the way the original oil came out at 10 hours. I've been running it every 2 weeks for 20 minutes like the manual says to do. The generator seems to run great and starts on the first pull every time and idles very quiet and smooth.
