Hi All,

I was able to score 10 qts of M1 0-30 for $2.75 each at the AZ clearance, so now I'm looking up the specs for it.

How does it compare to the M1 10-30 I am running now? I noticed slightly different VI, HTHS and 40 C numbers, but I don't really know what they mean in real life. Am I reading it right that it is actually thicker at operating temp than the 10-30?

Secondly, I have been using 5,000 mile OCI's on my 3.8 firebird with an oversize PF-52 filter. Should I modify that at all because of this oil? Yes, I know this engine is easy on oil, but I do 6-9 passes down a drag strip with this car between oil changes. Engine is unmodified, and keep in mind that I live in Texas.

Thanks!

The M1 0W30 should work great for you. I don't think it is as well built as the 10W30 but is is still a very good oil. I'd use it for the full 5K OCI. If in doubt you can mix it with a couple of quarts of 10W30 when you use it and still be able to enjoy some of the savings.

I noticed that too. It seems to be thicker than 5 and 10W30 at operating temp? And Mobils 5W30 has the exact same pour point as the 0W30?. Strange.
