One can never know if it's a real money laundering operation, or a sting operation.

oilyriser, my perception is that a large percentage of such crimes (money laundering, pedophile predators, drug deals, etc.) are actually done by law enforcement bodies as part of sting operations. We would be much safer if they stopped doing these things

Speaking of money laundering, my state used to have 25% of the poker machines in the world, now I don't know where the country sits, but it would be WAY up there (we've over 100 in a town of 13,000 people).

With the machines set-up to give a guaranteed 87% payback, $10k in gives a reasonably secure $8,700 legitimately earned dollars.

Dealers pay underprivileged to sit there all day and gather payout cheques.

Only if you are a professional gambler.

If you are an average mug, your winnings on the poker machines, lottery, poker, two-up, or any other things that Aussies gamble on are untaxed.

If you count gambling as an income stream, then the winnings are taxed, but the losses are deductible also.
