opened my shipment stocking up for the Fall oil changes..it was bound to happen and it does look very well made.

i know, globalization, quality control, their industry is very capable of making first rate products but it just feels a little bit wrong....

I'm sure that there was no testing done at all to ensure these meet or surpass the manufacturer requirements.....not.

Doesn't that era Elise have a Toyota engine anyway? Any quality filter that fits a Toyota 1.8L will likely fit the Elise.

I feel your pain , I would feel the same about the country of origin and question the quality of the filter .
Not that everything Chinese is bad but it doesn't install much confidence in me when I get something made there , just too many things have gone wrong for me with Chinese made goods .

This is actually true for US spec models, while other models had a different engine in them.

I would think the TRD filter would be quite popular in this application.

Maybe it is for the best that the filter isn't British.

Not really. The leaks tell you that it still has oil in the crankcase
