my EU2000 is going on it's 8th day of 24-7 operation. i'm changing the oil every 50-55 hours and immediately firing her up. so far it's at 260+ hours. also changed the plug with an oem NGK. i'm running rotella t4 15W-40. will keep running indef until the power is back up. (she ran 120hours during hurricane maria in 2017)

the winco 6000/5500 is at about 110+ hours and only runs for 9hrs thru the night and a few hours during the day to cook. she has T4 15W-40 too.

the oil is keeping up nicely. no burning off and it comes out nice and clear. (not that it matters) but it gives me warm and fuzzy feelings inside. my neighbors have already thrown rods in their gennies. prob due to lack of oil changes or using ilsac 10W-30. anyway they didn't want to follow my recommendations when i offered.
finding gas has been tough but not impossible.

Been using Rotella 10W-30 or Amsoil OPE oil in my friend's EM7000i no issues so far. I planned on a 100 hr OCI or biyearly (1 change / 2 years, not twice a year.)

Basically plug/oil changes and a new battery is all it has needed for over 10 years of ownership.

I am wondering why you couldn't go 100 hours with that oil running non-stop. A 15w-40 shouldn't loose it's HTHS viscosity the way a 5w or 10w-3o might.

we're having 112 degree heat index where i'm at right now. i feel comfy with the 15W-40.

rotella 10W-30 is a stout oil choice indeed 👍

you're prob right that this oil can handle the 100hrs but the lack of oil filter and 112 heat index days scare me so, i've decide to change at 50. i'm prob wasting good oil but it gives me the fuzzies. just don't want to take the risk because i need these units to perform. thanks for the recommendation tho. 👍

If you have time to answer, how many hours do you get from:

1) each of the NGK spark plugs

2) one fill of gasoline and what kind of loads are placed in it

3) air intake filter

and also what octane gasoline are you using?

PS, I like the fumoto on the winco. It makes me think that it would be worth it to machine a threaded extension for the Honda and put a fumoto on the end of that outside the case if I had to do what you are doing.

Equipment doesnt feel heat index only temp.
"The heat index, also known as the apparent temperature, is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature. "

Humidity is a non-factor for cooling engine.

the EU had the plug changed at 200hrs but looked like i could have run it to 400hrs to be honest. the EU runs a Refrigerator, an upright freezer, fan, TV and internet. she runs about 9hrs continous and i immediately top off. i've found myself refueling while on during middle of the day. i'm chugging down about 2 gallons a day.

the air filter (i haven't checked, i'm lacking on that part) might chk it out tommorow. thanks for the reminder.

gotcha. we're averaging 97+ degree days. the T4 has been bulletproof

FWIW I just changed the oil in my Wen this afternoon. It had ~85 hours on the oil. I use Farm & Fleet 5w40 HDEO. It ran for 65+ plus hours continuously from Thursday afternoon until this morning at the races. It got a steady diet of 87 E0 this trip. I went through about 10 gallons of gas.

Just my $0.02

Random useless math o'clock!
At an average of 30MPH your fuel consumption would be an equivalent of 195 miles per gallon.
Maybe I should swap that WEN in my truck  :D:ROFLMAO:

Well, worst case, you could save all of that 50hr oil for an emergency situation. If you can't find new replacement oil, you'll have this in reserve. Then, after the emergency situation is over, you can recycle it.
