Everyone needs to calm down. My curious mind led me to (regrettably) ask the original question. I guess the "unkillable Briggs" item that floated around cyberspace a while back got my curiosity up. Like I said, OK, I will use ND40 for chainsaw bar lube only. I welcome open discussions, thats how people learn, but wow, this one wasn't worth it. LOL!

I would use it in your lawn mower and not tell anybody. Thats what Im gunna have to do from now on.

It was a not dumb question, and I think you got educated on ND oils, but an ND SA or SB oil should nnever be used in ANY modern engine, even a lawn mower engine.
Use it as a general coating oil on your tools, or as a subsitute for chain and bar oil.

The OP asked a simple intelligent question. And he gets a bunch of stupid redneck answers. Who’s fault is that?
He has a free case of ND oil and would like to find a use for it, like any thinking man would. But instead of helpful suggestions he gets beat up because many of you have an ax to grind. Couldn't any of you know it all’s out there just say ND oil has none of the additives needed for a modern engine and while the ND will probably run for years it is not doing the engine any good, and just leave it at that.
BTW, If any of you krum bums that dumped on this poor guy are not bright enough to read between the lines. Insinuating the OP is stupid does not make you smarter!!!

I didn't see any "beating up" of the original poster. Opinions vary ... and some are backed by facts and some are backed by ... well, something else.

I was in an oil-aisle of a parts store several years ago and an older woman walked through and asked me where she could find ND oil. Her husband insisted he needed it for their lawn mower. This myth is out there (I'm not sure of its origin) and it PERSISTS ... as demonstrated by this (lengthy) thread.
