Noisy lifter 30s after start up: MMO & which oil?

2003 Mitsu Lancer ES non turbo. Has 250,000kms, no burning or leaking oil.

Has a loud lifter tick when cold starting that lasts for 30 seconds then goes away.

I have recently tried the sea foam treatment and did not remedy it.

Im going to try Marvel MOil on this next oil change. Which oil should i add this to?

Change the filter to one with a better, silicone ADBV and high flow... Wix/Napa Gold would be a good choice. Keep the galleries full of oil and see if it goes away. If not, try some Kreen from Kano Labs.

I had Valvoline Syn 5W30 in there on my last run (10,000kms), now running 6000kms on PetroCan 10W30 Dino.... was there ever since i got the car 20,000kms ago

Try every either QSUD or PP and skip the additives.

Yes 1st, try a different filter and 2nd, try a 0W30/40 oil. Sounds like you need faster lubrication.

If the tick goes away after a cold start, that's a sure sign of oil starvation. Time for a high flow NAPA Platinum.

Is yours 4G94 SOHC or?

for 4G94 SOHC: you may have to do valve clearance adjustment.

for all other 4G9 series DOHC, you may have to replace the bucket shims to tame any valve clearance noise.

I had a similar problem on my F350. I fixed it with Kreen.

My friends mothers Accent was fixed by 25% MMO in the oil. Was run for a while, oil changed and 2 years later still no more tick.

I will give this a try...
Thin oil, with good cleaning properties (PUP 5W30) together with MMO
and a NAPA Platimum filter...

This car is my beater.... so i dont mind tinkering with the oil in this
