My scangauge's long-term gas mileage output lines up with my observed gas mileage based on old-fashioned measurement, within a 1/2 MPG anyway. It might be closer, but my records are only so precise.
My only big complaint is that it's missing some proprietary codes on a maker-by-maker basis, but that's going to be the case with most anything you can afford without being a shop owner.
