No such thing as 229.4 Engine oil spec

I just checked with Daimler and there's no such thing as a 229.4 engine oil spec.


Amsoil AFL 5W-40 claims to meet:
Daimler Chrysler 229.3, 229.4, 229.5

There's a 229.3 and 229.5, but there's no such thing as 229.4

youre right. There is no 229.4 spec

Myst be a typo? they meant 229.1, 229.3 and 229.5?

Good catch! Email the about this and how you could have possibily saved their butt and they should give you a life time supply of oil!

Hello Guys,

I just checked the Amsoil website and looked up 'Product Information' for the 5W-40 European
oil, they have removed the 229.4 spec reference.
They reference the 229.3 & 229.5 specs but not the 229.4 .
Thought you would want to know.

The real issue is why 229.4 was ever put on there in the first place.

It was confirmed by a non-Amsoil Site Supporter/Amsoil dealer that 229.4 is a non-existent spec after talking with Daimler Chrysler. It's not even a page # unless you consider 229.1, 229.3, and 229.5 as page #s rather than specs.
