A lot of notices are coming out in the US about shortages of finished motor oils about to start happening.
I’m the Parts Manager for a smaller CT, and our shelves are full of oil, we get lots in, and speaking to our GM the other day, no notices of possible shortages are coming from corporate.
Does Canada produce enough base stocks that this shortage will not affect us? I find that hard to believe, given how close our markets are integrated.
Thoughts?

The shelves are full here in Florida. I believe the notices that the impacts will be felt in a few weeks as stock dwindles in warehouses.

Yes, I would imagine Canada will feel the effects too.

Perhaps the nature of the petroleum industry in Alberta allows for this situation - only speculating, really I have no idea. Anybody else know why?

So far all is good here. I think down the road pennzoil with their GTL base oil may have issues. Also sounds like some of those 0w-8 and 0w16 oil may have some issues. My 0w-8 toyota runs just fine on 0w-20 and there is plenty of XXw-20 available

What I've gleaned from Foxtrot08's posts is that due to the timeline of production to sale and fulfillment of allocations, it just hasn't caught up with retail yet. A month from now it may look very different.

@addyguy just curious if you’re seeing anything different now? And what part of Canada are you in? I’m not really seeing any out of stock, maybe less of some on shelves. And still regular sales, like VRP and M1 ESP this week for example.
