no connection with configfree on Toshiba laptop...

I've messed with it for a god while and i can't get it to connect.As of this post, I'm getting 54mbps on my hp laptop.the Toshiba is a friend's and is a Satellite A205.what can i check? Do i have to turn something on? Thanks

There is a switch on the side somewhere to turn on the wifi.

need more info. is it not seeing the router to connect? connecting but not doing anything? etc. does it see any routers?

I read up on that and nothing. i did a search there, and i keep getting a screen saying this,Corrupted Content Error The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected.

The laptop "radar" does find 2 connections.I JUST FORGOT to mention we are in a hotel.
