Nissan parts costs are insane!

$1 at a junkyard?

Well is it just a plastic plug? If so figure out the thread and order a brass one.

This is the best long term option, or clean the threads on both parts thoroughly, epoxy or RTV it in, and never touch it again.

Nissan says that only fits up to 2015… but maybe the thread is the same?
No idea, but when I had an 80s Nissan I sometimes had to order parts from earlier or later years.
You could ring the same dealer and ask for a price quote on that part number and see if the price is the same?

None of the junkyards around me have a Titan. Since it's not leaking I'll probably just leave it in there and never touch it again.

This is the same dealer that wanted $450 for a key fob and $169 to program it. They are the closest Nissan dealer to me, but I think I need to try another dealer even if I have to drive a couple of hours. That’s just silly.
Keyfobs from the dealer are wildly overpriced.

Get a generic off of Ebay or Amazon and have a locksmith reprogram it. If you have a working one, they shouldn't have a problem.

I learned about this when I thought I would have to replace one of the fobs for my Mazda. I could have gotten a set of two 'generic' fobs for my CX5 for $150-200 and the automotive locksmiths I contacted wanted between $150-200 for programming up to two fobs. They all asked if I still had a working fob. I seem to remember my dealer quoting in the $500 range for ONE fob and programming.

Like said above, I don't know that Nissan is any different than any other OEM. Sometimes you get lucky on the cost of a part. Most of the time you don't. I know the stop lamp switch for my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder was around $80 and that was after the counter guy have me a "discount". It's a small piece of plastic with some spring metal contacts in it and a spot for a harness connector to snap into.

I also know that the front end plastic on my 2022 Nissan Frontier was pricey. The bumper cover and grille is many different parts that add up to over $3500 in total. There was zero aftermarket availability up to early this summer. Had to be all OEM.

We’re going back a while but I used to think they were reasonable for my Maxima. Back then 33% off list and free shipping from a dealer in N’awlins.

I’m finding Toyota/Lexus to be funnier than Curb Your Enthusiasm. $130 brake sensor wires, $650 power window switches, $398 power mirror switches, etc. I did once order from Japan. Same OE part $336 list, on my doorstep $118, sealed OE box. Amazing when North American distributors are cut out of the picture.

Every OEM has "insurance" parts - which are mostly paid for by insurance and hence are seriously overpriced.

A radiator drain plug shouldn't be one of them. I still suggest reaching out to courtesy parts directly to see what they come up with.

I was told that with generic ones or ones you don't buy from them, they still have to charge you for the programming whether it works or not. Apparently they pay a fee each time they do the "program" and the software doesn't care if the fob is junk or not. I bought an OEM Nissan key fob from carandtruckremotes.com for $50 and Batteries+ programmed it for me for $50. They do sell "refurbished" ones as well as no-name fobs. The prices of different OEM fobs are all over the place though, even with them.

I can recommend them as well. We lost a fob. So they deleted the 2 programmed in the car. Added the new, added the old that was not lost.

One week later we found it as my son had
Placed it inside a Mr Potato Head.

Called them and a girl said we have to charge you to add it back, because we pay the software co.

Owner called and said we can do it no charge glad you found it.

Possibly it doesn't need to be a Titan, just another Nissan using same radiator manufacturer?
99% certain you're right. As long as it's the same radiator, it's going to use the same drain plug.
