I have not sold a fun car for ~15 years, and that one was sold to someone I knew. On the fun cars, I tend to move deliberately, buy what I want and keep for a long time.

Selling one of the fleet, Lotus., and aside from posting LotusTalk, I am considering BaT or consignment at a specialty dealer. I prefer to avoid the time and hassles of a private, non auction sale and I also recognize the narrow market for the car, hence the BaT and consignment options. No one I know has done either; no first hand experience in the social circles.

My thoughts are that BaT appears relatively painless, can bring a good prices (and this is a perfect example), or will a specialty dealer be able to drive a better price partially offsetting their costs??

Looking for any first hand or close experience or thoughts? Lots of opinions and drivel on the 'net......

Thanks...

I’ve bid on numerous BaT vehicles (looking for an older Alfa Spider) and they seem to be legit, although they get poor consumer ratings. https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/bring-a-trailer.html

Cars & Bids https://carsandbids.com/ is a takeoff on BaT and Hemmings, Hagerty etc. are all now in the online auction business, so there’s lots of options out there. If you don’t mind taking a lot of pics and videos, I think the online route beats the consignment route.

GLWTS and keep us posted.

A friend sold a BMW on BaT and my FIL bought a Shelby Cobra replica on BaT and it was a smooth process for both. I’d recommend paying someone with experience a few hundred to come take photos.
