Hello guys...

I recently bought a Nissan Almera 1.5 vvti and I don't know what kind of oil (or what viscosity either) is recommented for the engine.
I live in Greece (Salonika) and the temps are quite high (Winter:-10 up to +15 ... Summer:+20 up to +40). What will you recomment me for all year use?

PS: I do not more than 10.000 Km's per year so I will do only 1 oil change.

, I am from Bulgaria and the Chrysler/Mercedes dealers there recommend Castrol Formula R synthetic for my dad's 300M and E240. Based on what I've heard on this board it is a very good oil if you can find it. I cannot recommend any dino oils because I have no idea what they stock in Greece.

According to Castrol UK, the Nissan Almera 1.5i (QG15DE) takes 2.7 liters of Castrol Magnatec 10W40. If Magnatec is unavailable, Castrol UK reccomends Castrol GTX Modern 10W40.
Generally Castrol reccomends the viscosity your automaker reccomends, so we know you need a 10W40.
I would reccomend that you go with a 10W40 of either API SL or API SM designation.
As a point of trivia, and for no practical reason, I will say that given the warm Greek climate, Castrol notes you can also run the thicker weights of 15W40, 15W50, 20W20, 20W40, or 20W50.
I have absolutely no idea what would constitute a "good" motor oil in Greece, so I'll hold my tongue on that.
I will remark that you are probably safe any time you buy your oil from a company that owns oil wells, as they are large firms with substantial assets and names to protect, and unlikely to intentionally deceive with their packaging. I'm thinking of Shell, ExxonMobil and some others you can probably name.

Good evening...

I just saw all of your answers, thank's a lot guys.

I visited the site of Castrol.uk and the reccommended oil is 10W40.

Therefore, I'll might use Shell Hellix Plus 10W40 for which I can get a big discount from the Army PX(8 Euro/1l)
