New York Times claims that it checks all of its sources and only
prints them when they are "ready".

Are these people serious? Does NY Times expect us to have such
short attention spans such that we would have completely
forgotten about Jayson Blair already? And rule of thumb that
has worked for me in the past is that if one is caught there are
usually ten more which have not been caught yet.

Isn't New York Times' reputation somewhere between those of the
Enquirer and US Weekly?

Jae

BTW, don't make the obvious connection to RSP. Let's just
discuss NYT

Would you rather they not have reformed?

Having a printed policy is the 1st step.

NYT is not kind of a paper I read. Too soft...

I get most of my info from WSJ and BBC. I just don't know if WSJ will continue to be as good of a source as in the past with the new ownership.

Alas, I have little faith at this point that it is possible to separate a discussion of the quality of the journalism at the NYT from the political issues. This would be the first discussion out of -- oh, several million -- in which the quality of the NYT is NOT tied to their alleged politics.

That said, I'll leave this one open for now, but I'm not optimistic...

You're being very generous! It's like having a Huffington Post print edition delivered to your door each & every day!

I've always been amazed at how the NYT has no accountability for it's slander behavior time & time again.

Many people do have a short attention span as they've only been fed 10% of the story (if it's even a story at all)...and they believe it. Those people don't know any better. In this day & age, it's much easier to find the other side of the story. For so many reasons, people only believe the quick-hit stories and never ever dig down deeper for themselves.

That's what I like about BITOG. If you've made it here, you MUST have dug down to find out more about oil at the very least.
