Okay, so the new sample is on the right. It was easier to format that way...

I am going to go for 12,000 miles this time. Everything but silicon looked great, but the silicon was most likely a sampling error. I am still using M1 5W-20. Only change for next time might be M1 0W-20, for some fuel economy (I know it might be a very low increase.)

I figured I'd share. Next oil change will probably be in a year or so.

First time I had a quart of MMO in the crankcase. That's probably why.

Silicon is a little high. Now that I think about it, I have a K&N filter on there. But other wear is normal. Silicone in the oil for that long would have worn parts out, correct? That's why I think Blackstone said it was contamination.

Looks good. Seems the extra silicone wasn't really abrasive (unless the wear was caught by the oil filter, perhaps?). I may end up using this in the 2001 Civic I maintain for a one year OCI.

Thanks for posting.

The Civic's owner's manual says to change it every 10,000 miles, so M1 is probably overkill since Honda didn't say what kind of oil to use.
