New Mobil 1(108-A) made in Vietnam C&P

I called Highline Warren again today, and the filter Tech Line guy put me on hold and went digging around and came back and said he did have some documentation that said the Mobil 1 Extended filter was 99% @ 20u. I asked if there was any reference to ISO 4845-12 in the info he had, and he said he didn't see anything like that.

So it sounds like this new Mobil 1 is essentially like many of the PGI made filters coming out of Asia, and maybe this Mobil 1 filter is essentially using the same basic media. That's all I could find out. I told the guy if these are 99% @ 20u, then Mobil should put that info on their website since it would attract more buyers than if no specific efficiency info was given.
Thanks!! Box needs updating too.

It seems PG made filters are in that 99% at 25 micron and 30 Micron range, I seen a few with a 20 Micron rating.

So this is believable and while PG is not the middle man it is clearly the same factories that PG uses so I highly doubt they would go too far off from what PG offers.

I will likely be using the M1-101A which from what I can see is made in the South Korea factory going forward.

I don't think any of the extended models under PGI are 99% @ 30u. Seen 99% @ 20u and 99% @ 25u though as you mentioned.

The Mobil 1 in post 1 is made in Vietnam ... so I'd suspect it could be made in the same VAFI factory that PGI uses. Wonder if some Mobil 1 filters will also be coming out of China like some PGI filters do?

Napa Gold FIL1040 which is for my vehicle lists 99% at 30 Microns and is Made in China it is a PG filter.

Sure that's not old left over info on NAPA's website from when M+H made them? Seen that happen before, like with the Carquest Premium filters. Filter suppliers change so fast that the website info doesn't always keep up.

That is possible but I am not sure whether or not it is updated.
Yeah, it's crazy trying to keep up with all the changes going on with all these oil filters. At least it seems that PGI filters are more stable ... for now.

I called the PGI Tech line a month or so ago. These are the official ISO 4548-12 efficiency numbers for the PG EX filters and all clones. If Mobil is in fact using VAFI and the same media it would make sense.

98.7%@15 microns
99.5%@20 microns
99.9%@25 microns

So basically, PG EX and any clones are good to go. Clones I am aware of after reading the threads and posts here are Microgard Select, Carquest Premium, and Service Pro. Am I correct, and am I missing any?

On a similar note, I ordered and received a Pentius extended filter and a Service Pro extended filter to use in my next two changes. The Service Pro is from 2019 and made in China - was bought off of Ebay. Is this filter still 'good' or are newer ones better and made elsewhere?

This may be a dumb question, but would the general consensus here and now be that M1 filters are on par with the PG filter family?

I picked out Mobil1 M1-110a from Walmart ~$11, made in Vietnam, it looks really well made from outside and like that they have plastic seal at opening to prevent dirt getting in.
If bypass does not leak and its 99% @ 30 micron, it might be a better filter than Fram Endurance or Ultra.
