I have a new Milwaukee M18 grease gun. I filled it with Lucas Red N Tacky, but it looks like they shipped the gun with a caramel colored grease. No idea if it’s an actual grease with anti wear properties or just an assembly/ shipping cosmoline type lube so the gun isn’t sitting dry from the time of assembly to consumer use.

I’ve ran a good cup of grease through it and I’m still seeing discoloration. I don’t like it. Good to go and I’m over thinking it or keep flushing it out?

My guess would be its a standard inexpensive lithium based grease. I wouldnt be afraid to use it for chassis lube but I would probably not use it on wheel bearings or anything critical.

Yeah it’s some kind of shipping grease with the spring mechanism behind the plunger. It eventually gets pushed out and replaced with whatever you put in after the first tube you use. I am pretty sure it is harmless.

pump a bit out till the red colored grease (red & snakey) shows,,or just run it in the intended use you have
