The additive package looks awesome for a low cost oil, can't see a better bargain out there. I picked up a gallon tonight for $6.00 at wallworld.

MustangGT,

Are you going to run it in the Mustang?
if so, what do you think about the imprssion of 15w/40 being too thick for the 4.6L mod?

have you had good results with similar oils in the GT before?
(I'm interested 'cause I also have a 4.6L Bird)

You cant go wrong with Delvac or Delo, both are truly wonderful products and are truly great value. I use them in my gensets, two wheelers as well as gas and diesel vehicles and they come out with flying colors no matter the conditions.

The newer Delvac-MX is slated to be more suited for mixed fleet use according to Mobil, either way, you wont go wrong.

One of our shops runs the whole fleet on delo 15/40, trucks gas and diesel, cars new and old, light pickups, small engines, you name it. Not saying it's the right thing but they've been doing it for years. Since our new chevy pickups don't have the dreaded piston slap others do, I would think at least they like it? LOL

I've used 15W-40 Delvac 1300 in my 97 4.6 during the summer, honestly I didn't notice any change from the 5W-30, even in gas mileage.

FWIW, I'm running 5w40 Rotella Syn, and I did notice a huge mileage change from using 5w30 or 5w20 in my '99 F150 with the 4.6. Over similar temps and driving style, I netted a 7% drop in fuel mileage running the xw40. Can't imagine a 15w40 would improve upon that. I'll be sampling the truck and changing again in a week or two, so I'll have another point for comparison soon.

While the UOA shows its fine, I do note that it just feels sluggish running a 40 weight. Just less get up and go, I guess. The fuel mileage seems to bear that out!

And lest anyone thing I'm trying to bash the use of a HDEO in gas engine, my Jeep, despite a monster fuel diltuion issue, loves the stuff, and I noted no change in fuel mileage from running 5w30-10w30. GO figure...

Thanks for the post .

I can even feel the difference between Mobil 0w-40 and Synergyn 30wt in my 5pd 1.6 liter engine . I would never use an oil like Mobil 5w-40 Truck Suv in this thing .

The smaller the motor and less torque it makes the more the driver in-tune with his motor can feel the difference is my opinion .

Buster has been there before with his Toyota .

I agree with you from my own experience in my 1996 Contour with the 2.0L 4 cyl Zetec engine. In the preBITOG days I used 5W-50 Castrol Syntec because I thought "thickerer is betterer". I'm "old" fashioned what can I say

. The manual called for 5W-30. Needless to say I lost 3-4 mpg and the car was sluggish to say the least. Finally switched back to Mobil 1 5W-30 and it was like a new car. My mpg jumped back up and the engine revved a whole lot better and seems to run not as hot.
