How many k's/mi's should you go before your first oil change - the manual says 8000K
Opinion's definitely divided on this issue. Recent Honda owners cite chapter and verse that their owners' manuals solemnly instruct to leave the factory-fill oil in for 10,000 miles. Honda motors don't seem to be falling apart wholesale. Adherrents to this approach cite references that engine clearances are more accurately machined, and the sliding parts are micro-polished and don't require a formal break-in to achieve final milling. I've always changed out the factory-fill oil at 500 miles. That philosophy suggests getting the left-over assembly debris and whatever initial wear metals may be present out as soon as possible. I personally like to do the very first oil change on my car by about 800 to 1000km. My father's new Volvo has just over 2000km on it and I'm bugging him every day to go get his done!
I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable going to 8000km on the factory fill.
3000km would probably be my absolute upper limit, although in most cases I'm doing my second oil change at that mileage!
What kind of car is it?

With such precise conversions like that, you got it!quote:
