has anyone heard anything about the bp gas with "invigorate"? the website doesn't say much, other than it's a new type of detergent.

Shell detergent works good Use a couple tanks then go back to a low detergent fuel. I find high detergency has less power.
Shell has "V Power", BP has "Invigorate". its all marketing hype. all fuels have some detergents in them. with the exception of BP's ultimate, most suppliers share a common distribution network so the gas is the same: the "additives" are added by the distributor at the final distribution point. regarding the comment that "high detergency has less power" - it's more likely that you are using higher octance, which, all things being equal, higher octance has less BTU of power per gallon. (although it does allow you to run higher compression and more advanced timing - so you MAY get more power if your engine is capable....)
tmorris -- the first commercial i saw was a couple of days ago. but i don't watch much tv,outside of sports and educational shows. too many inane/idiotic offerings.thank you for the replies -- but, has anyone heard anything about this gas ?

You haven't heard much because BP is in the process of finding new lawyers to check out the advertisements they are going to run because of the recent Castrol 57% better sludge protection fiasco.
I'm sure they will find newliars I mean lawyers that have half a brain...

You haven't heard much because BP is in the process of finding new lawyers to check out the advertisements they are going to run because of the recent Castrol 57% better sludge protection fiasco.

Shell's new detergeant (according to their pamphlet) is directed to DI fuel engines which are having valve deposit issues. The compound removes the reactive O and replaces them with N in the HC chain to increase detergent activity before the stuff is oxidised. A real improvement. I'm not a Shell fan, their gas has been horrid in my neck of the woods, but this stuff seems to work. I run 2 tanks or REGULAR then its back to minmal detergency fuel from PetroKing or Gulf.

I like the Shell, when using it after 3 or 4 days the truck idles so smooth that it hard to tell it is running. After 3 or 4 days of other brands I get the infamous 4 cylinder shake. The sad part is Shell is rapidly disappearing from this area. One of their major jobbers recently sued Shell and Shell lost, and all of the station that were operated by Sentis Group have switched to Phillips 66, which already had a zillion station here in this area. Go figure?
I have 2 BP stations in my town that are 1 mile apart from the other,one station has a tanker that comes from a town about 12 miles away and the other station has a tanker that comes from the other county East of where I live.I doubt both of these fuels are identical

Chevron now claims their Techron is Nitrogen enriched. I hadn't seen that before.
I've read it on this forum from others but it doesn't exist out here in California. Our closest brand to BP is ARCO.

Too bad BP doesn't "invigorate" their diesel fuel. My MB runs the best on BP diesel.
I know that this is off topic, but the Shell nitrogen thing is silly. It may be a great cleaner, but I would not market it as nitrogen. Duh, air contains 80% N2.
I never see any BP station in So Cal, but there are some in No Cal in San Jose area.
