It was past time to “refurbish” the rose bed in front of our house. Two rose bushes had died and the other 5 were not looking too healthy. Instead of replanting two new roses we decided to go to a local nursery and pick up a few more colorful and diverse options.

My wife loves hydrangeas so we picked up one of those. A few hosta’s, caladiums, echinacea and some other plants later we have a new flower bed.

Finishing that project only left me with an itch for more so we picked up a planter box yesterday and planted a small herb garden that my wife has wanted for years.

To top it off we planted a curcuma plant (which I believe is turmeric) today.

All in all we are happy with these additions and will enjoy watching them grow (hopefully).

There is nothing quite like a well manicured yard with some beautiful plants! Never thought I would enjoy it as I have. Must get it from my mother.

Looks great! My wife and I have flowers throughout the yard and it definitely adds a lot of character. I 'm dealing with post covid blood clots and other issues and feel much more positive taking care and watering them. It's been a nice way to get my mojo back.

Sorry to hear about the blood clots, that is scary. Do they have you on any type of treatment?

I've been on thinners for a couple of months. Cut my leg about a week ago in the basement and the dang thing bled for an hour. LOL
My next hematology appt. is next week after my tests this week. Hopefully I get some positive news.

It's funny - I opted to keep working from home as I manage a service group in the Boston/RI areas. I have been getting back in the field as much as I can to visit clients, to "keep the blood flowing" so to speak. I swear, every client I talk to knows a half dozen people who died from blood clots.

Enough depressing covid talk, our Hosta's have exploded this year!
I have always liked Hosta's, they seem to be pretty hardy where we live. If this garden bed doesn't take off I can always transplant them somewhere else.

You basically can't kill a hosta...I have close to a dozen in my yard. They basically don't need anything to thrive and they live through our -20 degree winters.

Looking good. I have several gardens as well as a vegetable garden but this year everything is flooded from the rain. 120 days straight. My grass is so tall my Chihuahua gets lost trying to go. Lol

Looks great. The only thing that seems to grow here are tiger Lillies and Rhododendron, which neither last long. I'll have to try Hostas. Interestingly these can be found in the woods but not my garden/flowerbed area.

I have been mowing my grass once a week to keep up! It's a blessing and a curse. No need to use our city water $$ to keep the lawn barely alive, but daily rain means fast growing grass and frequent mowing to keep the lawn in presentable shape.

So have I when water is not to deep. Ground is saturated. We are over 60 inches of rain so far this year.

That looks real nice! Everything is so well trimmed which is just how I like it. Plus nice white Accord in the background.
