I bought six (6) Mobil M1-201 extended performance oil filters from Rock Auto on closeout, dirt cheap. Reading the mfg code, they were 7 years old at the time (that was a couple years ago). I was concerned about their condition and they were so cheap that I sacrificed one to see inside. Everything looked great, no brittle media, no cracking ADBV. I am still using those filters today, with confidence. But the effects of storage does depend largely on the temperature and humidity of the environment... I am guessing my M1 filters were stored in a cool dry place.
