I accept your story at face value. I am not convinced quality control is improving despite automation, the ISOs, etc. I think you accidentally got a "dead round.". I used to automatically dismiss subjective assessments. No more. My Focus was ticking NOTICEABLY On cold starts. Switched from Castrol Edge 0W-20 to Kendall GT-1 Syn BLEND 0W-20. Never made the noise since. I KNOW what I DON'T HEAR.

if the old oil was a light weight that has some shear and/or fuel dilution it's very possible the new non-contaminated oil would run smoother...

Like others have said, filters can make a difference too. I know the OP used a Delco filter, so that's interesting.

Hyundai/Kia actually put out a TSB about excess noise with aftermarket oil filters. Might be something with the relief pressure or ADBV?

Placebo or not, I would not dump perfectly good oil just because the engine felt a bit different, unless the engine started to sound like a bucket full of marbles.

+ 1. I wish we lived closer, I'd take every drop of that slightly used oil and pour it on my salad for dinner. With a little bit of "Mrs. Dash," it would be wonderful. Heck, I might even share it with my Oldsmobile.

Believe it or not, I still have it in the jug...I've thought about taking it in to recycle, but I could still use it for the lawnmower, and a few other things...

Might go that route.....

If the drain pan was clean and the jug was clean, I'd have absolutely no problem using it again.

Why not take a sample of that UNUSED Service Pro oil that is still in the bottle you put in car and send in a sample to Blackstone...

It would be interesting to see if there was any REAL issue with the product or it was just your imagination or a coincidence, which is what I would tend to believe.

My 2011 Ford F150 3.5L "ecoboost" starts idling very rough. That's how I know it needs an oil change.

Once the oil change is complete, the engine idles perfectly again.

It's not in my head. This engine is known for fuel dilution of the oil. Guess what excess fuel in the oil causes? Yup, you guessed it! A rough idle.

Yes, fresh oil does help most engines run smoother. For obvious reasons. Better ring sealing, less fuel vapor going through the PCV system, higher viscosity that cushions piston slap better, and so on.

About how many miles does that occur? Never knew that about the idling. I'm running MC in my Toyota Matrix which see's some short trips. And sometimes has a rough idle.

Weirdly, It seems to be around 5000 miles. The OCI is 10,000 miles!

The most I've gone is 7500 miles on the syn-blend. But noticed between 7000-7500 that the car consumed a half quart. So I backed the oci down to 6500. Gave it a little buffer. Is this the syn-blend or Full Synthetic that you use Cujet?
