Net Neutrality Repeal Will Up Your Internet Bill ?

In a couple weeks it's said the FCC is considering or actually doing, a repeal of Net Neutrality. It would shift bandwidth from "Everyone is Equal" (consumers, government, and business) to "Some are more Equal than others" ( Animal Farm, George Orwell 1945). That is, your ISP could tack a surcharge onto your account for using streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, SlingTV, etc., or have add on "bandwidth packs" like $XX.00/month for and then add the "Streaming Pkg" for another $10/mo, and etc. Similar to wireless data that's not an offered as an unlimited plan. Or something like that. I may have butchered the concept a bit since I'm not real up to date on it and only skimmed the latest news blurb about it. But it sounds like a screwing for consumers. Someone here knows more, please share. Here's a rather alarming illustration of the concept of what consumers might face from their ISP's if Net Neutrality is repealed:
 
I love how this was sold as being a good thing for the public when all it will be is a money-maker for the ISPs. Looks like the repeal will happen, but like pretty much everything else, there is so much other garbage currently going on in the government, nobody is paying attention to what this actually means. Ajit Pai is another two-faced crooked politician doing what the corporations want and not what the people want. But who's surprised anymore?
 
I expect this to turn into a rock-throwing discussion where everyone is divided based on where they get their news. The tribalism that I see going on these days is disconcerting. IBTL
 
I have not seen a single argument of how this proposed rule change could in any way lead to a consumer's Internet experience being better or less expensive.

It will just turn the internet into another money grab for businesses. I think it will actually hurt some if they try to tack on fees to use their services. Lots of money in advertising already going on with places like Google, YouTube, etc. Take away users and that ad money generating base may suffer more than what they would collect in added use fees.

It will turn too political soon enough and get locked.
 
Regulation = bad and costs the consumer more money De-regulation = bad and cost the consumer more money Don't trust the government because they are evil Don't trust corporation because they are evil More taxes and more spending = more debt and that is good Less taxes and more spending = more debt and that is bad My head hurts

Consider the details of each situation carefully instead of painting everything with a wide brush.

+1, this seems to be the general feeling I get from the issue.

It would go into something like your kids are trying to do homework and it's going real slow because your neighbor's streaming 4K porn on the same fiber optic trunk line and they just want you to have priority bandwidth. They wouldn't change things dramatically tomorrow-- they'd boil the frog slowly. Please also remember that cable TV considers itself a convenience, not a utility, and not subject to the same regulations. The net non-neutrality bill also cements that the FCC is the final arbiter of such things and states will not have the rights to set their own rules.

Saying this implies there are two sides to this story. What's the other one?
 
Nothing good can come out of giving companies like Comcast more flexibility. When was the last time anyone said anything good about the cable company?
 
It's all about controlling what you see and or getting into your pockets. I really hope this does not go though. it's very bad for the American people.
