Need help with my new computer

Last weekend, I bought a new Gateway computer at Best Buy. I need to figure out how to do a couple of things:

1) How do I copy my Outlook Express address book from my old Windows 98SE system to my new Windows Vista system?

2) On my old system, in Outlook Express, I created about 30 different folders to save emails that I didn't want to delete. What is the easiest way to copy or move these hundreds of emails to my new computer?

For #2, you go to Options --> Maintenance ---> Store Folder.

Then find that folder, copy everything onto a cd or flash drive, and put it in the store folder on your new pc.

Not sure about the address book, i dont keep one.

wayne, There's a "Files and settings transfer wizard" in Windows 98SE and higher. If you can't find it on your system, search Microsoft's site , or google search, for this tool. It will prompt you to save the stuff to a folder or CD-ROM (or USB key if you have that setup in your Win98 machine). then you take that media to your new computer, run the equivalent tool, and it will suck all your data in.

The File and Settings Transfer Wizard is the easiest way to go. However, if that doesn't work, your email folders should be *.dbx, where * is the name of the folder OE or you created, such as Inbox.dbx. The address book should be *.wab; it may be {userid}.wab. IIRC, the path to each under Windows 98 is C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

Alternately, I believe you can export the Address Book to comma-separated file, saving it and naming it where/what you want. It will be {whatever name/path you chose}.csv.
