A few years ago I was re-visiting website called autobodystoreforums dot com and it was run by Len Stuart. All links are dead now. I cannot find any content that is useful. I tried the wayback machine and it is offline for some reason. I want to find some part#s from an obsolete super expensive HVLP spray gun that I have, and also wanted to read the helpful tips people provided many years ago on how to adjust it. The website was extremely good for information not found elsewhere.

Did anyone remember this website?

its a devilbiss 2000 something and there is a way to convert it to a modern version. It required a new air cap, and new tip, but you get to re-use the needle.

I'll just say it's probably not worth the effort. Harbor Freight has some decent guns for the DIY guy without breaking the bank.

Yes and no.......

The website had a ton of excellent info pertaining to all areas of auto body and painting. If offline, even archived info would have been great.

I buy all my guns and parts from this place. They are in England but they will get it to the US quick and for not too much cost for shipping.
They are near Devilbiss and even if you need to call them they can get anything for them. For painting tips look at the gunmans videos on you tube.

So I am fully aware there are cheap good guns available from HF or online. That is not the issue. In 2008 I bought a super expensive gun locally and hated it. But I already spent the money. I chalked up my issues to my lack of skill. Not the case, the GTi Millenium sucks and I proved it over this past weekend. I need a gun I can understand and set up, because I paint once every five years. I already own cheap crap guns for primer, rocker panels, wheels, and frames.

Mystery solved.....My current gun is a devilbiss GTi Millenium, and back in the day when Len Stuart ran autobodystore.com he and others recommended doing a conversion to a devilbiss "Plus" if you wanted the glass like finish from your clear coats. The guys that did this stated they were identical guns with exception to the air cap and tip. The needle and diffuser / baffle stay the same. Needless to say I already bought the new air cap and 1.4 fluid tip but wanted to re-read all the posts again.

Over this past weekend I swapped out the parts and holy crap, I should have done it sooner. The clear coat laid down so smooth it looks fake. Too smooth actually. So this is a great thing as that means I can speed up my application process and get more orange peel to emulate the factory. The old GTi Millenum config resulted in orange peel or runs. There was not a way to get the clear to come out smooth. Also the old config resulted in zebra stripes when painting metallic base. I found out why. The GTi Millenium used a ton of air, has a super tall fan that is not needed for cars and the ends of the fan were not able to be dialed in, they always tilted or faded out resulting in zebra stripes. On the other hand the Plus config resulted in a shorter yet wider fan similar to the guns reviewed on the paint society youtube channel.

Here is my microsoft paint example of the two. I played with both configs over the weekend but did not get photos on my phone.

Left= GTi Millenium w/ 1.3 tip
Right= Plus with w/ 1.4 tip
