NASA Rolls Out Moon Rocket

I'm one of the "why are we sending people to space when..." crowds.

Genuinely curious though what they're going to be doing up there.

I can see Elon now... "Oh no, I've got to get up there before they do!"
 
Frankly I believe we need an unforeseen leap in technology before we continue putting men on the moon or elsewhere... something other than rocket technology. Kind of how reaching the North Pole is now passe with the invention of the airplane, compared with the extreme effort the first time around.

Read that at the current pace of human progress that inter stellar space travel was still 269 years away,you have to make slow steady progress to get there.
Anyway watching those huge rockets blast off is worth it.
 
I'm a big fan of NASA and the federally funded space program generally (this launch vehicle is not sponsored by Musk, Bezos, or Branson). The Mercury and Apollo programs led America to the front in many technologies. In the spirit of BITOG, here's a couple closeups of the suspension and airless tires of the lunar rover.
