I installed a set a NAPA Premium pads with shims on a 2005 Ford Taurus. The pads had clip-on shims that fit well. There were also these stainless steel shims included with the kit but there was nothing similar on the original brakes. Has anyone got some experience with these extra “ shims” ? Here are some shots. I have a bit of a squeal when applying the brakes.

I agree with others saying those pads are not specific to your model and the clips are for other models that use the same pads.

As for the squealing, did you use brake paste when installing the pads?

Yes. The pins and bushings are well lubed. I did not put any between the caliper and shim. The tab ears are also lubed. Here is something from super lube. Any comments about their recommendations? I find when doing maintenance, there is never any lube left on the tab ears, even with brakes that are silent. Still, it’s easy to re-apply, even with the caliper bolted in place for most makes. Are most folks putting it between the caliper and shim? Appreciate opinions.
