Superlubricity is provided not by the synthetic carrier oil - it comes from the trillions of extremely small, .1 to 4 nanometer synthetic diamond ball bearings that roll between surfaces, which prevents metal contact.

Even if such spherical nano-diamonds are possible, they are not much bigger than oil molecules so how they are supposed to roll over the surface of the metal reducing friction?

Good link to explain why these don't work:

Surface asperities would be like mountains to these particles.

Just posting for a good laugh.

Ha ha, thanks for this post Tempest. There is a guy at my local gun club who pushes this stuff for 20$ a little bottle. I always suspected it was an over hyped snake oil (thanks to BITOG).

My buddies believe it is a miracle product with uber nano diamond technology.

I've seen that stuff in the additive section and it doesn't seem to do much.

I do see that they have a gun oil out:
https://www.evergreenamerica.com/ProductsLubriSilk.cfm
but it is way expensive and I question whether or not the chemistry really provide EP protection. Sliding plates are usually FM territory.

The gun oil is also very thick at 46 ISO. MSDS doesn't show base oil or much else for that matter but the website states PAO.

Their 0 or 00 grease might be interesting for those that like grease on a gun.

What amazes me is how they can put up a web site that is so poorly written. Don't they have anyone proof read this stuff? Hire an English Major or something....
