My tale of woe…pity party please

I'm sure this is exactly how my fiancé's younger son thinks. Any time he has a problem with his vehicle he either calls for help if it doesn't run or drops it off at the house if it does and grabs the truck and expects someone to fix his car. That someone usually is me.

Happened again the other day when his battery died and he called his grandpa to come give him a jump. Gets the car going and brings it to the house and gets the truck. I text him and ask him what is he going to do about the car and he says he doesn't know because he doesn't know what's wrong with it. I ended up going to get a battery for it and installing it in 20 degree weather.

Last week he brings the truck back that he has had for over a week because of the bad weather and tells us that the right side blinker doesn't work and the inside passenger door handle quit working. This is on the 97 GMC farm truck. I had already replaced the inside door handle last year and I guess his girlfriend somehow broke it again. That is not getting fixed for a while because of the cold weather.

Kid is 21 years old and helpless as can be. His girlfriend is also 21, doesn't have a job, a car, or even a driver's license.

I mainly fix this stuff for my fiancé and not for him. At least he always thanks me.
“In mainly fix this stuff for my fiancé and not for him”. Amen

In 80s I owned an Isuzu I mark same as chevy spectrum. needed a timing belt. dealer said see, manual says remove engine and xtranaxle. $1000.
I went to Chevy dealer they said $200. I said my buddy says its much more expensive, chevy dealer said no we jack the oil pan, pull the motor mount and that gives us room. I said sign me up

Saw Mike Brewer of Wheelers Dealers buy a Chevy Luv from a girl and he ripped her off. I think that’s also Isuzu

I'm assuming OP - and hoping - that the BIL has done some good turns for you as well, thereby making all this worth it. If that's the case, no problem. If not, I would seriously rethink doing projects like this for him. One thing I've noticed about people in general is that if you always kindly fix something for them without protest, they become lazy and just heave it upon you regularly expecting you to fix it every time - causing you a lot of grief.

Like I said though, if BIL is returning the favor in some way then it's all good. Nice to help each other out. :)

V6s are cruel and unusual punishments once they get old. I think I know your county is pretty bad with road maintenance even though the property tax rate is high. So, I think I'm not surprised the struts are shot(cupping is because of that) and the suspension is toast.

And here's me feeling sorry for myself putting the engine back in the Renault on sub 10 degree C (whatever that is in those whacky Fahrenheit things) in the middle of a Tasmanian winter... No snow, just not super comfy.
