Here is what I’ve decided upon for all my Hondas
2003 TL-S
2003 Civic EX
2004 Accord 2.4L
Mobil1 5W-30 SL/CF (Not the new extended formula) $19.97 gallon (Not using the entire gallon)
A couple of ounces of Valvoline MaxLife Engine Protector $3.97 15 ounces
Honda PCX-004 filter (The S2000 filter) $4.99
It was VERY difficult to pass up the Pennzoil 5W-20 in the yellow gallons for $7.77 I may go with that oil in my 2.4L Accord at the next change interval. The TL-S sees only about 7500 miles a year of short a mileage around town trips with a three times a month round trip commute to Houston (85 miles) and is getting changed at about 5000 miles. The Civic about 10,000 miles a year of short and around town driving and is on a once a year/10,000 mile interval. The Accord sees about 13,500 miles per year mostly as my commuter car to Houston (85 miles round trip), so I’m thinking the Pennzoil 5W-20 @ 7500 miles comes about every six months.
But I’m still skeptical of running 5W-20 in Houston in the summer. I feel pretty comfortable running the 5W-30 year round down here. What do you think?
